Hemorrhagic Shock
Bleeding is an ominous medical emergency that may lead to fatality if left unattended.
In regions of t he world where medical facilities and trained medical staff are scarce hemorrhagic shock is t he leading cause of death following surgical procedures.
Female Genital Mutilation is a surgical procedure performed by traditional, never-trained healers. Cutting an intact well vascularized genitalia may elicit uncontrollable bleeding in susceptible individuals such as people with congenital bleeding disorders. Since no pre operative evaluation is conducted here, threats of hemorrhagic shock with ensuing fatality are serious possible risks.
Preventable sudden death due to hemorrhage is a severe emotional distress that may elicit affective disorder in due course. Why allow your loved one to undergo genital mutilation which may potentially cause death!
