Diabetes
My name is diabetes. I am very ancient. I am very popular.
My name is in all medical textbooks. I am known since the cradle of human civilization. I am perceived as being dangerous. I am perceived as being a slow killer. My victims are ubiquitous. My victims have no color, gender, race and age.
My name is linked to pancreas. My name is linked to insulin. I can cause frequent urination. I can cause dryness in the mouth. I can cause fatigue. I can cause leg numbness. I can cause blurring of vision.
When I am furious I can cause my victims to be on dialysis. I can elicit my victims to have stroke or heart attacks. I can cause my victims to lose their legs. I can cause my victims to become blind. That is why I am dangerous. That is why people are scared of me.
I am a puzzle to researchers. I play a positive role in the economy. Chain of industries carry my name.
My only enemy is the physician. He teaches my victims. He shows them how to defeat me. He gives them the remedies to alleviate the symptoms that I inflict.
